Porella (German Kahlfruchtmoos ) is a genus of leafy liverworts of the Porellaceae family .
features
The sturdy plants are single to double (rarely triple) pinnate and up to 10 centimeters long. The lamina cells have weakly to strongly thickened cell corners. The oil bodies are usually small and numerous. The spore capsule opens with mostly 4, rarely up to 16 valves.
species
The approximately 80 species known worldwide are mainly found in the tropics and subtropics, especially in East Asia. In Germany, Austria and Switzerland there are currently three types:
- Porella arboris-vitae ( spicy bald fruit moss )
- Porella cordaeana (Cordas Kahlfruchtmoos, Bach Kahlfruchtmoos)
- Porella platyphylla ( flat-leaved bald fruit moss )
In Porella baueri is a clan, presumably by bastardization of Porella platyphylla and Porella cordaeana arose. It is generally not recognized as a separate species, as a clear separation is usually not possible and is placed with Porella platyphylla .
