The port tower is a defensive tower in Balduinstein . The tower, built around 1430 as part of the fortifications, stands near the Lahn . The floor plan of the tower is an octagon . Its height is 17 m, its diameter 8 m. It is surrounded by a crenellated wreath , underneath is a frieze with a keel arch . The tower has three rooms and the ceilings are groin vaults made of slight pointed arches . The entrance was originally on the third floor, it wasn't until 1930 that an entrance door was knocked down on the first floor.
