Josef Veleta

Josef Veleta (born April 16, 1930 in Vienna ; † December 6, 2011 ) was an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ). Veleta was a member of the Federal Council , a member of the National Council , the executive city council and district chairman in Vienna.

education and profession

Veleta attended elementary and secondary school between 1936 and 1944 and then learned to be a car mechanic from 1944 to 1948. Veleta was employed between 1948 and 1955 in the X-ray outpatient clinic of the Vienna Regional Health Insurance Fund and was subsequently employed as the State Secretary of the Socialist Youth Vienna from 1955 to 1957 and then from 1957 to 1965 as District Secretary of the SPÖ Vienna- Hernals .

politics

Veleta was district chairman of Vienna-Hernals between 1965 and 1979 and was elected to the state government and city senate Gratz III in 1979 as part of a major government reshuffle . Veleta was elected as a city councilor on February 14, 1979, and from February 27, 1979 was the executive city councilor for asset management, city services and consumer protection. Veleta held this office until the end of the reign on May 27, 1983. On June 1, 1983, Veleta moved to the National Council, to which he was a member until March 30, 1986. He was then a member of the Federal Council from March 31, 1986 to June 30, 1990. In addition, Veleta was district party chairman of the SPÖ Hernals between 1980 and 1988.
