Porta Venezia (until 1860 Porta Orientale or Porta Renza) is one of the historic city gates of the city walls of Milan . It was monumentally remodeled in the 19th century.

The Habsburg government in the late 18th century had already begun to transform the Milan city walls into a recreational area. Between 1783 and 1786, the municipal administration created the "Giardini pubblici" at the Porta Orientale. In the 19th century, the wall wreath was mainly used to collect the municipal consumption tax (dazio comunale). A project by the dominant Milanese architect Giuseppe Piermarini for the classicistic redesign of the gate from 1782 was initially not carried out. His pupil Luigi Cagnola first created a provisional triumphal arch for the entry of Viceroy Eugène Beauharnais in 1806 . In 1825, when Emperor Franz I and his wife moved in, work was resumed. The side buildings serving as the (tax) line office were completed in 1827 and 1828. They are creations of the architect Rodolfo Vantini . In 1831 the statues and reliefs were finally added.

Porta Orientale was also the name of one of the six historic districts of Milan.
