Bernhard Keil began playing ice hockey in his hometown of Amberg. As a teenager he came to EV Regensburg , for which he was active in the school and youth team. In December 2007, Keil switched to the young eagles Mannheim and played from then on in the DNL . With the young eagles, the striker became German junior champions in 2009 and 2010, and in the 2009/10 season he was the league's top scorer with 34 goals and 57 assists. In this season, Keil was used for the first time in the second division team and completed three games for the Heilbronner Falken . In April 2010, the right-shooter signed a two-year contract with the Straubing Tigers DEL team , which, however, contained an exit clause in the event of a draft pick. Keil drew this option after he was dragged 22nd in the CHL Import Draft by the Kamloops Blazers of the WHL .

After a year in Canada, Keil returned to Germany. Since the contract with Straubing had not been terminated, he was in the squad of Lower Bavaria in the 2011/12 season . In addition, he received a sponsorship license for EV Regensburg , for which he was eligible to play in the Oberliga Süd . On January 19, 2012, the Straubing Tigers announced that they would draw a club-side option to extend their contract, which extended Keil's contract to the end of the 2012/13 season. In his first season in Straubing he played 55 games in which he reached ten points scorer. His contract with the Straubing Tigers was extended on October 18, 2012 for another two years until 2015. The striker began the 2013/14 season with the Tigers, and with a license he was also part of the ESV Kaufbeuren second division squad . In November 2013, however, Keil left Straubing and switched to league rivals EHC Red Bull Munich . On May 9, 2014, the Schwenninger Wild Wings announced the commitment of the native of Upper Palatinate. At the end of the season, however, his contract was not extended and he moved to the DEL2 to the Eispiraten Crimmitschau . There he was initially one of the top performers, but repeatedly had to struggle with health problems. Therefore, in November 2017, he decided to end his professional career. He plans to play and train in the amateur area at ERSC Amberg .
