Portal Tomb from Croagh

The Portal Tomb of Croagh (or Crowagh , Irish Crumhach ) is on OS maps marked as " 'Giant's Grave". It is located on a small hill about 50 m west of the river Buncrowey, a tributary of the Easky, ( Irish An Iaseaigh ) on the slopes of the Ox Mountains in County Sligo in Ireland . In the British Isles, portal tombs are megalithic systems in which two upright stones of the same height with a door stone in between form the front of a chamber that is covered with a sometimes huge capstone.

The large capstone, about 4.5 m long, 2.1 m wide and 1.0 m thick, has slipped. The portal stones and the door stone are tilted outwards. The east-west oriented rectangular chamber is about 2.5 m long, 1.5 m wide and 0.9 m high. Cairn material is distributed around the base of the chamber and extends approximately two feet to the rear of the Portal Tomb .

Nearby is Croagh's Court Tomb .
