Portal Tomb of Garran
The almost completely preserved Tomb of Garran portal is located west of the L189 road from Monaghan to Newbliss, fenced behind a house in the townland of Garran ( Irish An Garrán ) in County Monaghan in Ireland . It is referred to as "Giants Grave" on OS cards. As portal Tombs be megalithic on the British Isles referred to in which two equally high upright stones therebetween with a door stone which form the front of a chamber which is covered with a massive part endstone.
The Portal Tomb of Garran has two portal stones about 1.5 m high (the right one is split), two side stones on each side, an end stone, all in situ and a cap stone about 2.4 m long and 1.0 m thick, the is shifted to the rear and rests on one of the eastern bearing stones and the ground. The door stone is missing. The approximately 2.0 × 1.0 m measuring chamber opens to the northwest.
