Portal Tomb by Knockanyconor

The Portal Tomb of Knockanyconor (known locally as "Nellie's Rock") is close to the N61 (road) near the village of Lecarrow ( Irish At Leithcheathrú ) in Town Country Knockanyconor ( Irish Cnocán Uí Chonchúir ) in County Roscommon in Ireland and is on the Ordnance Survey - Map (OS map) called "Stones". As portal Tombs be megalithic on the British Isles referred to in which two equally high upright stones forming the front of the chamber and provided with a partially massive stone deck.

The roughly east-west oriented facility represents a complex structure, which consists of a rock outcrop in the east, the portal Tomb in the middle and a stone box in the west. A field wall that was added later runs from the stone box to the western end of the field. About 40 meters west of the stone box and south of the field boundary is a round, concentric stone wall that may represent a hill border . The collapsed Portal Tomb has a large capstone that rests against two portal stones. The structure is known as "Nellie's Rock" because a woman with a child found refuge here during the 19th century.
