History and description

In 1936 it was decided to extend Métrolinie 5 (then as line 5bis) in a north-easterly direction and started in 1939. The 3840 meter long section from Gare du Nord to Église de Pantin with the Porte de Pantin underground station went into operation on October 12, 1942.

Under an elliptical vaulted ceiling, the station has three tracks on a central and a side platform. It is 75 m long, the decor of the tiled walls indicates the nearby Cité de la musique . The trains in the direction of Bobigny - Pablo Picasso stop at the side platform, those in the opposite direction on the northern track of the central platform. Its southern track is reserved for traffic from and to the adjoining double-track parking facility to the east.

Two exits lead from both ends of the station to the median of Avenue Jean Jaurès. They are marked by candelabra designed by Adolphe Dervaux in the style of Art Deco . In addition, a lift was installed at the confluence with the Sente des Dorées.

vehicles

In 1978 the Sprague-Thomson trains originally operating there were replaced by those of the MF 67 series. The first vehicles of the MF 01 series hit the track in 2011 and replaced their predecessors completely by 2013.
