history
The four-story building, built in 1895 by the architectural firm Whidden & Lewis in the style of the American Renaissance , stands in downtown Portland and houses the offices of the city council and other administrative facilities. Portland City Hall was renovated for $ 29.3 million between 1996 and 1998. A three-storey rotunda is built in front of the central part of the building , the portico of which is supported by granite columns. Portland City Hall has been on the National Register of Historic Places since November 21, 1974.
In 1982 the Portland Building was erected northeast of Portland City Hall .
