Portrait of Beauty is the debut album of the post-hardcore band Days in Grief . Thomas Hannes is responsible for production. The reason to produce the album was the demo tape Poetic License produced in 2003 .

Emergence

The 14-track album was released on March 29, 2004 on the German record label Eat the Beat. The current label was preceded by a contract with Poisonfree Records. Three weeks after the start of the recordings for the album, however, the band decided to sign a contract with Eat the Beat due to work-related disputes.

The musical influences on the design of the songs come mainly from the hardcore genre . The stanzas in particular are affected by this. In the choruses, the melodic parts come to the fore more often, which distinguish them from the verses. Also metal elements were incorporated into the songs.

meaning

The guide of the long player is mainly in the almost 4-minute song All Inside . It's about inner beauty. The essential elements of beauty are divided into enthusiasm, feeling and honesty. For this reason the album was named Portrait of Beauty . It is precisely these matters that should be reflected in the individual songs. The album cover also suggests a kind of beauty, namely that of nature.

The texts deal with both interpersonal and political matters. This is particularly about technical advances that cause nature and humans to distance themselves more and more and personal experiences. Days In Grief also considers war-related issues . God Curb America was created during America's attack on Afghanistan .
