Portraits of Past are a Screamo / Emocore band from Berkeley , California / USA . Despite its short existence, the band is considered to be an extremely influential emo band, especially with regard to the emerging screamo bands.
history
The band was formed in 1994 in Berkeley, a town near San Francisco , and during its existence released a split with Bleed , an LP and two contributions to a sampler. Portraits of Past played a US tour along with some smaller tours along the west coast before the group broke up. The band's discography was released in 2008 by Ebulltion Records .
After the band split up in 1995, the former members continued to work on other projects such as Nexus Six , Seventeen Queen , The Audience , Bella Vista , the Screamo legend Funeral Diner or Who calls so loud . In 2008 the band reunited to give some reunion concerts during the year.
style
The band plays a more aggressive and chaotic emo style and thus laid the foundation for later bands, whose sound, based on these stylistic devices , should make Screamo .
Slow, somewhat out of focus song parts with quiet monotonous vocals alternate with Screamo typical - extremely fast, hard and chaotic parts, which are underlaid by brute screams and longer screaming lyrics.
