Funeral Diner was a 1998 to 2007 screamo band from Half Moon Bay , California .

history

Funeral Diner was created in 1998 after the breakup of the bands Nexus Six (Daniel Patrick Bajda, Dave Mello) and Portraits of Past (Matt Bajda). The fourth member to establish was bassist Sean O'Shea. The band played concerts in the local area and recorded their first songs. Four songs appear on a split EP in January 1999 along with old songs by Nexus Six in an edition of 1,000 units. During the year O'Shea left the band and was replaced by Rob Prevail of Living War Room . In addition, a new singer was found in Phil Benson. The two new band members continued touring locally and released two split EPs. In 2000, Prevail and Benson left the band while again making studio recordings. Interim bassist Andy Radin, who also directed the recordings, became permanent bassist after the recordings were finished.

In early 2001 Funeral Diner returned to the studio, interrupted by a nineteen day tour with the bands Staircase and The Last Forty Seconds through the USA and Canada . In August 2002 the first album was released with Difference of Potential .

In 2002 the singer Seth Babb, who had just split up from his band Walken , joined and Funeral Diner went on a six-week tour through the USA and Canada, before touring Europe for six weeks. On the European tour, Ben Steidel represented bassist Andy Radin, who had left the band after the US tour. In the years that followed, funeral diners also visited Japan.

Funeral Diner have released a large number of split EPs and sampler contributions, most of which came out in very limited numbers. Funeral Diner also changed record labels frequently , making it difficult to compile a complete list of all titles released.
