Ampere is a screamo band from Amherst, USA . The band is known for their short, ten to fifteen minute live performances.

history

The four-piece band was founded in 2002, with most of the band members already playing in other bands, such as Orchid . In 2006 the band went together with the band Sinaloa, first on a US and then on a European tour. In the same year the two bands released a joint split EP . After some other recordings with other bands and many live performances, a split with the Screamoband Funeral Diner followed in 2007 .

The band is vegan and strongly promotes the DIY idea in the punk / hardcore punk and emo scene.

style

The band plays hard, chaotic screamo. Short, calm, melodic parts alternate with brute, fast screams and hard guitars and drums. The band is often compared to Orchid , in which guitarist Will Killingsworth played previously, especially in relation to their older album All Our Tomorrows End Today . Nevertheless, screamo and emo bands such as Native Nod also play a role as influences. The German label and mail order company Green Hell says about the band:

“A […] hurricane of anger and despair. Ampere are one of the very few US bands that still play this style. "
