Orchid was an American hardcore punk band that is now considered to be formative for a style of music later known as Screamo . The band released several EPs and splits that are hard to find today, as well as long players. They themselves named the German bands Systral and Carol as the main influences on their sound.
history
The band was formed in early 1998 by Jayson Green, Will Killingsworth, Brad Wallace and Jeff Salane. Most of her recordings were released on vinyl. There were three long players: Chaos is Me , Dance Tonight, Revolution Tomorrow! and Self-Titled , all of which were released by Ebullition Records. Her last shows were Orchid in multiple cities in the summer of 2002, the final one at The Advocate in Harvard Square in Cambridge, MA, where she performed with Sinaloa and Wolves , where founding member and former Orchid bassist Brad Wallace played guitar .
Will now runs his own label, Clean Plate Records , while his band Bucket Full of Teeth has released several records, including a long player, on Level Plane Records before founding the band Ampere . Jayson, Geoff and Jeff play in the band Panthers, which has released two albums and an EP to date. After the end of Wolves , Brad joined Transistor Transistor on guitar, which also released an album on Level-Plane.
After the end of Orchid, Will had a large number of Orchid's Chaos Is Me Shirts reprinted, hoping to counteract the high prices one has to pay for both real and bootlegs on ebay and other online auction houses .
