Cripple Bastards is an Italian grindcore band from Asti . The band was formed in 1988.

Band history

Cripple Bastards was founded in March 1988 by the then 14-year-old "Giulio the Bastard" (drums / vocals) and the 17-year-old "Alberto the Crippler". Both had played in local thrash metal and punk bands before. With Cripple Bastards, the two wanted to express their admiration for old Italian hardcore punk , such as the bands Raw Power and Negazione , but at the same time also mix this style of music with the freshly created grindcore ( Napalm Death , Carcass ). At the beginning they took over the pathological lyrics from Carcass and mixed them with the musical style of early noise core bands like Seven Minutes of Nausea . Between 1988 and 1993 the group recorded five demos and three 7 '' EPs . It was sold through a DIY label that Giulio had founded. The debut album Your Lies in Check followed in 1996 .

The first ten years were marked by numerous personnel changes. A stable line-up was not found until 1998. However, founding member "Alberto the Crippler" left the band in the same year. Since 1998 the band consists of "Giulio the Bastard" (vocals), "Schintu the Wretched" (bass), "Der Kommissar" (guitar) and Al Mazzotti (drums). In 2000 the second album Misantropo a senso unico was released , which was released in the United States on American Recordings . Desperately Insensitive ( Necropolis Records ) followed in 2003 . The following album was released in 2008 via Feto Records, to which the group had signed for the 20th anniversary. In addition to these albums, numerous singles, split releases and two compilations appeared ( Best Crimes , 1996 and Almost Human , 2000). In February 2014, Nero appeared in Metastasi on Relapse Records .

Music genre

Cripple Bastards plays a mix of grindcore, old-school hardcore punk and death metal . The pieces are all short and played very quickly. In the beginning, the texts were more in the splatter style and based on old Carcass, but today they are more politically left-wing and deal with current problems.
