Necropolis Records is an American extreme metal label that was founded in 1993 in California by Paul "Typhon" Thind.

history

The history of Necropolis Records started in 1989 with Thinds Fanzine Necropolis . Thind kept receiving demos from various bands like Sentenced or Convulse . Overall, only two issues of the fanzine appeared from 1990 to 1992. Before the third edition was completed, Thind decided to start a label himself to give these bands a chance to release albums. The first band called Demilich signed a contract in February 1993. The first release was the EP Angelcunt (Tales of Desecration) by Archgoat . As a fanzine writer, Thind had numerous contacts with various bands. A 7 ″ single from Beherit followed . Since Thind had good relations with Jon Nödtveidt from Dissection , an album of the project The Black , in which Nödtveidt helped out, was released on Necropolis Records. Thind was also good friends with Patrik Jensen from the seance . Jensen told him about a band called Dawn from his hometown, so they signed it. Thind was also able to convince Jensen to reunite his black metal band called Satanic Slaughter .

The label suffered some trouble from a Thinds nervous breakdown, making it currently inactive. In addition, there were rumors that Thind had left the country and dissolved the label. Necropolis Records also owns the sub-label Deathvomit Records.
