Music style and lyrics

Musically, Kampen is comparable to Bathory and Norwegian black metal bands.

In the first three albums treated Arckanum trolls and the deity Pan , while later releases the Chaos - Gnosticism or anti-cosmic Satanism treat. Shamaatae explained, however, that "trolls are a certain type of demonic giant figure who, according to Norse mythology , have their home in Jötunheim ". He “mixed the themes of 'trolls' and 'pan' because they have a lot in common - not the mythological origin and background, but nonetheless. For me, Pan was always something like a symbol for Loki 's [sic!] Work and his essence. Therefore there is a connection between the trolls and the god Pan. And I've always been very fond of Gnosticism . Arckanum has dealt with this topic from the start and even when I was still active as a drummer with Disenterment, I wrote song texts like 'Astral-Arcanum' and 'Gnosticism', which I was inspired to do by our ' magical and musical machinations' of those days. ”Still the album was also perceived as pagan .

reception

Arlette Huguenin from the E-Zine Vampster described the joint re-release of the first three Arckanum albums as "[e] ine a history lesson in black metal made in Sweden that is over and over with the word 'kvlt'." Roberto Martinelli from Maelstrom -E-Zine said it was a shame that Arckanum no longer used clear vocals after Kampen and that the guttural vocals also changed, which is why later albums such as Antikosmos and ÞÞÞÞÞÞÞÞÞÞÞ are less interesting. Kampen is one of the best black metal albums ever. The clear vocals in particular are special on this album and an even more characteristic element than the rhythm. The use of samples is exaggerated, especially since he always uses the same sample from an owl.
