Witchery is a Swedish thrash metal / speed metal band that was founded in Linköping in 1997 from the former members of the band Satanic Slaughter .

history

After all members, except for singer Ztephan Dark, left the band Satanic Slaughter in 1997, singer Tony Kampner, the two guitarists Patrik Jensen and Rickard "Rille" Rimfalt, as well as drummer Mique, decided to found the band Witchery. When they were looking for a bass player, they soon accepted the Arch Enemy bassist Sharlee D'Angelo into the band.

The band then began recording their debut album Restless and Dead , which they released in 1998 on Necropolis Records . In the same year the first EP followed under the name Witchburner . Then the band went on a US tour with Borknagar and Emperor .

In 1999 the band released their second album Dead, Hot and Ready, also on Necropolis Records. This was followed by a joint six-week tour with Moonspell and Kreator across Europe .

After a two-year hiatus due to the band members' activities in other bands, they got back together in 2001 to record their third studio album, Symphony for the Devil . It was also the first album on which drummer Martin Axenrot could be heard after Mique left the band. The album was released in September 2001, followed by another US tour with The Haunted .

In 2004 the band got together again to record their fourth album Don't Fear the Reaper , which was then released through Century Media in February 2006 after negotiating a worldwide record deal with the label.

In June 2010 the band released their second album under Century Media called Witchkrieg , which was supposed to be a reference to the Blitzkrieg . The band then played at Metaltown 2010 in Gothenburg .
