Daniel Striped Tiger is a post-hardcore / emocore band from the US Cambridge ( Massachusetts ).

history

The band was formed in 2003 in the US state of Massachusetts.

In 2005, Condition came out, the first and much acclaimed album. Before that, an EP and a split were released. In 2006 a split with the band Ampere followed .

style

The band's sound is characterized by more chaotic song structures, shouted and melodically sung parts, by extreme changes between loud and quiet as well as fast and slow. The band mixes typical emo sound with folk rock and rock influences as well as jazz elements.

Often comparisons are made with the earlier DC band Nation of Ulysses , who also integrated stronger jazz and other rock elements into their hardcore punk or emo sound.

The band's sound is described as follows at Punknews.org :

"Daniel Striped Tiger [...] playing a unique brand of frenetic, angular post-hardcore, as seemingly seen through a jazz filter."

-

The album Condition is rated as follows at smother.net :

"The rhythms are frenetic and manic and its just as loud and chaotic as so much DC-based hardcore was back in the day with obvious audible references to such luminaries as Fugazi and Nation of Ulysses."
