Posca

The posca was a non-alcoholic drink during the Roman Empire . It is vinegar water . For real Posca you needed wine vinegar and not sour wine. Sour wine is alcoholic and therefore falls under the term Lora . The variety of tipped, sour wine was nevertheless often used in ancient Rome to use up Lora that had gone bad. Due to its easy preparation by mixing water and wine vinegar, Posca became a mass drink. From the ancient cookbook of Apicius there is a recipe for sour bread porridge which Posca names as an ingredient.
