PostEurop is the association of 48 major European postal companies based in Brussels , Belgium . PostEurope works with the Universal Postal Union .

PostEurop was founded in 1993 because, after the liberalization of the postal market, the interests of the postal companies were to be represented by a separate European association, while the predecessor organization CEPT was transformed into an organization of the European regulatory authorities for the postal and telecommunications sector. While in 2008 the formerly state-owned postal companies are still primarily members, PostEurop is aiming to become the industry association in Europe.

PostEurop has been coordinating the annual issues of the European stamps since 1993 , a task previously performed by the CEPT .
