history

The year 1650 was identified by the local researcher Ludwig Scheller as the year of birth of the brewing tradition in Weiler. Over the centuries, the brewery locations and names in Weiler changed until the Post Brewery emerged from it in the 19th century. In 1849 the name “Zur Post” appeared for the first time. Before that, the inn and brewery were called "Weißes Rössle". In 1852 the brewery and inn managed by Josef Anton Wucher were elevated to the status of a Royal Bavarian Post Office and Brewery.

In 1904 the inn at Fridolin-Holzer-Strasse 4 was acquired by Jakob Huber and converted and expanded by Georg Bufler into the “Hotel Post”. In 1904/1905, the side wing of the inn in Bahnhofstrasse was torn down, another floor with a new, flatter roof structure was added and the facade in harmonious Art Nouveau style was adapted to the overall complex of the station district. On the east-facing green space he built the Salettl , an elongated garden pavilion with two pagoda roofs.

In 1906 the master brewer Anton Zinth sen. (1880 – December 1961) moved to Weiler and in October 1907 took over the then local brewery with inn and agriculture. Initially alone, later together with his eldest son Herbert Zinth senior. (1914–1989), he expanded the company into a medium-sized company with regional importance between the Allgäu Alps and Lake Constance . The brewery was relocated 300 meters further north to Käsgasse 17. Georg Bufler expanded the main building in 1926 using the old malt house and the post office and converted it. The Salettl he built in 1904 was torn down again. In 1961 the second son, Anton Zinth jun. joins the management team, who today together with Herbert Zinth jun. runs the business. After extensive renovations, the main building has been run as a brewery and hotel since 2010 .

With the Siebersquelle, the Post Brewery Weiler is the only brewery in the region to have a state-approved mineral well . The Siebersquelle was opened in 1428. The source is located in the tertiary rock layer at a depth of 160 meters. The Post Brewery Weiler participated in the source in the middle of the 20th century. She has been the sole owner since 1989.
