The Post and Telekom Austria AG ( PTA ) was from 1 May 1996, the successor organization founded in 1887 kk Postal and Telegraph Administration (PTV) . The company's headquarters were most recently at Postgasse 8 in Vienna 1010 , where Österreichische Post AG operated its headquarters until the end of 2011 .

The PTA infrastructure comprised 2334 post offices, 13,000 vehicles, 3.9 million telephone lines, 2.4 billion letters, 1,629 post buses, 500,000 Mobilkom customers and 45,000 Datakom customers.

The PTA completed the transition from the monopoly company PTV to a market-based company. In 1998 the internal division was also legally completed, the PTA split into the telecommunications sector, Telekom Austria with its subsidiary Mobilkom Austria , and the logistics sector, Österreichische Post AG .
