The postcholecystectomy syndrome in the narrower sense is a collective term for complaints and sequelae that occur after a cholecystectomy . These can be mechanical causes, such as a stricture of a bile duct as a surgical complication.
In a broader sense is denoted by a postcholecystectomy syndrome, the fact that non-specific abdominal pain, leading to a cholecystectomy had caused persist after cholecystectomy, so the gallbladder was not the real cause of the discomfort.
