Potete

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The potete is a brass instrument , a hybrid of a bass trumpet and a trombone . In contrast to a valve trombone , the instrument has three rotary valves and a slide with which the tone can be varied by a minor third. The lowest note Potete is a great D .

The pot was developed by Robert Schagerl for Hans-Georg Gutternigg for use at Russkaja . The starting point was a special trumpet shape ("Ganschhorn"), which was built for the Mnozil Brass trumpeter Thomas Gansch . Like the Ganschhorn, the Potete has an upward-pointing bell. The pretzel shape is typical of the instrument .
