Mnozil Brass [ nɔtsɪl bras ] is an Austrian brass ensemble . The repertoire of the wind septet ranges from typical wind music, hits, jazz and pop music to opera and operetta. Their appearances are complemented by comedic interludes as well as vocal performances in the style of a music cabaret .

history

The musicians got to know each other as students at the Vienna University of Music at the musicians 'regulars' table in "Mnozil", a former pub in Vienna's 1st district . In 1992, this formation developed from the loose musicians' round table gimmick.

From 2001 the wind septet worked with the freelance director Bernd Jeschek, with whom the musicians developed the programs "Smoke", "Ragazzi" and "Seven". The Trojan Boot is the ensemble's first theater work and is also a joint production of the group and Bernd Jeschek . The world premiere of the work was commissioned by the RuhrTriennale and took place as part of the RuhrTriennale 2005 as the “first operetta of the 21st century”. Musically, Das Trojanische Boot leads you through the history of music and the various styles of music in two acts.

In 2006 Mnozil Brass composed the music for the Austrian film friendship , which is based on the play friendship by Rupert Henning and Florian Scheuba (awarded the Austrian Cabaret Prize and the Nestroy Theater Prize ).

As part of the Salzburg Festival in 2008, Irmingard - probably an opera in two acts - was the world premiere of another stage work with director Jeschek.

On January 6, 2013, the ensemble opened the Richard Wagner anniversary year 2013 in Bayreuth with a work commissioned by the city of Bayreuth called Hojotoho . The production comes from the director Philippe Arlaud , who showed Tannhauser at the Wagner Festival in Bayreuth between 2002 and 2007 .
