Roman Rindberger (* 1973 in Upper Austria ) is an Austrian trumpeter and university teacher.

Life

Roman Rindberger comes from a family of musicians and grew up in Zell am Moos . He started playing the trumpet at the age of six and received lessons from his father, who was a trained trumpeter and leader of the local brass band . Even as a child he played folk music with his father and two brothers.

At the age of 17 he began studying at the Mozarteum in Salzburg , financed by a scholarship and teaching at the Salzburg Music School. When learning progress stagnated after two years, Rindberger decided to change the approach and subsequently change teachers. After six months of teaching with Malte Burba , Rindberger moved to Mainz in 1992/93 , where he continued studying with Burba at the University of Music and working on his technology.

After the change in approach, Roman Rindberger returned to Salzburg in 1996, where he continued his studies with the meanwhile new Professor Johann Gansch for a further two years. He then continued to take lessons from, among others, Tamas Velenczei , Laurent Tinguely , Bill Nulty and Klaus Schuhwerk . With the latter, he finally completed his master's degree at the Music Academy of the City of Basel . Rindberger then received a scholarship at the Zurich Opera and shortly thereafter also with the Berlin Philharmonic . After winning an audition , he got a job at the Bavarian State Opera in Munich , which he quit after a few months. He then returned to Berlin until, a few months later, in 2000, he was given the position of solo trumpeter at the Hessian State Theater in Wiesbaden . After four years of orchestral work, Thomas Gansch asked him in 2004 whether he would like to join his ensemble Mnozil Brass . Rindberger agreed and has been working as a freelance musician ever since.

Since 2012 Roman Rindberger has been a university professor at the Music and Art Private University of the City of Vienna in addition to his musicianship .

He is married and has two children.
