Albert Wieder (* 1981 in Neckenmarkt ) is an Austrian tuba player , composer and arranger as well as a university professor.

Life

Albert Wieder learned to play the tuba first from his father, who was a trombonist. At the age of 14, he was accepted into Josef Maierhofer 's class at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz , Oberschützen branch , where he was an extraordinary student until 1999. At this time he was already giving solo concerts under Yehudi Menuhin and with the Graz University Orchestra Oberschützen. Then he took up a regular degree in instrumental and vocal pedagogy as well as tuba concert there until 2007. From 2001 to 2003 he also studied tuba with Paul Halwax at the Music and Art Private University of the City of Vienna . In 2000, at the age of 19, he became tuba player in the stage orchestra of the Vienna State Opera and also founded the brass ensemble da Blechhauf'n . He has been a member of the Vienna Trombone Ensemble since 2006.

From 2015 to 2017 he also played the tuba temporarily with the group Mnozil Brass and was on their album Yes! Yes! Yes! involved. With two members of this ensemble - the trumpeter Thomas Gansch and the trombonist Leonhard Paul - he forms the trio "Wieder, Gansch & Paul", with which they were nominated at the Amadeus Awards 2020 in the category Jazz / World / Blues .

Albert Wieder has been Professor of Tuba at the Joseph Haydn Conservatory of the Province of Burgenland in Eisenstadt since September 2012 .
