Pour en finir avec le jugement de dieu (German: End with the judgment of God ) is a radio work of art by Antonin Artaud , which was recorded from November 22 to 29, 1947 in the studios of Radiodiffusion française (RDF).

The work

This radio work of art was commissioned by Radiodiffusion Française. The texts were read by Maria Casarès , Roger Blin , Paule Thévenin and the author himself. The accompaniment consisted of screams , drum beats and xylophone tones , which were also recorded by Artaud. The piece was realized in 10 individual recordings, which were later mixed:

  • Opening text
  • Sound effects that merge into a text passage performed by Maria Casarès
  • The dance of the Tutuguri as text
  • Sound effects (xylophone)
  • La recherche de la fécalité presented by Roger Blin
  • Sound effects, brawls and exchanges between Roger Blin and Antonin Artaud
  • La question se pose de presented by Paule Thévenin
  • Sound effects and screams from Antonin Artaud in the stairwell
  • Conclusion
  • Final sound effects

Prohibition

The work was censored and banned from being broadcast on the night before it was first broadcast by RDF director Vladimir Porché. The ban on the broadcast provoked outraged reactions, including from the writer, editor and publisher Maurice Nadeau . The program was then offered to be broadcast to a selected audience, which was composed of journalists , artists and writers . The unabridged text was finally published in late 1947 or early 1948 (undated) in a secret issue of the magazine "Niza".
