Roger Blin

Roger Blin (born March 22, 1907 in Neuilly-sur-Seine , France , † January 21, 1984 in Évecquemont , France) was a French actor and theater director .

Life

Roger Blin has starred in over 70 films since the 1930s. In 1942, Marcel Carné cast him in Les Visiteurs du soir , where he played alongside Arletty . Under the director Jean Cocteau he played in 1950 in Orphée together with Jean Marais and Juliette Gréco . Andrzej Żuławski cast him in 1975 in his film Nachtblende with Romy Schneider . Blin played Fabio Testi's father .

Blin went down in theater history when, in 1953, his directorial work helped Samuel Beckett's play Warten auf Godot to achieve its breakthrough. He himself took on the role of Pozzo in this production . His staging of plays by Jean Genet , such as “The Walls” for the first time in France in 1966, helped him to gain international fame.
