PowerDirector is commercial video editing and authoring software that runs on the Windows operating system . The software is geared towards importing / recording and correcting videos and photos, as well as video editing , authoring and burning DVDs and Blu-ray discs . High-definition formats (such as AVCHD , Blu-ray Discs) are consistently supported in the Ultra version.

Video editing
The following features can be used to edit videos with PowerDirector:
- Video effects
- Transitions between video clips
- 6 independent tracks for picture in picture (PiP) objects that are superimposed on a background video or photo
- Speech bubbles with freely insertable text
- Resizable work area (timeline, preview and effects database)
- Recording of sound, audio mixing
- Scene recognition and setting of chapters to cut a video into several scenes (automatically or manually)
- Subtitle settings (files can be imported or created yourself)
- AB Cut, allows you to remove the ends of a clip or cut a scene out of the middle and keep the rest
- Merge multiple video clips into a single video
- The cutting function turns a long video into several video clips, which can then be edited individually
Online community
PowerDirector enables users to create their own picture-in-picture objects and DVD menu templates. These can be uploaded to Director Zone and made available to users of other CyberLink applications. From there, you can also download and rate templates from others.
