The Poynter Hill is a striking and 825 m (according to British data 950 m ) high hill in the north of Graham Land on the Antarctic Peninsula . On the west side of the Trinity Peninsula, it rises 13 km east-southeast of Cape Kjellman .
The Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey mapped him in 1948. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named him in 1950 after Charles Wittit Poynter (1797-1878), master's mate on the brig Williams under Edward Bransfield to explore the South Shetland Islands and the Bransfield Strait .
