Pozo de los Frailes is a small village in the municipality of Níjar in the Spanish province of Almería in southern Andalusia . The place is located about 3 km north of San José in the Cabo-de-Gata -Níjar Natural Park and had 482 inhabitants in 2011. A restored water wheel from the 14th century, a so-called Noria, is worth seeing. It was operated with donkeys or mules and was only abandoned in 1983.
