Presidential election in Liberia 2017
The first round of presidential elections in Liberia 2017 took place on October 10 in Liberia , West Africa . In addition to the President , the members of the House of Representatives also stood for election .
No candidate achieved the necessary absolute majority in the first round. George Weah of the Congress for Democratic Change and Joseph Boakai of the Unity Party entered the runoff election on December 26th . Initially, the second round of the election was scheduled for November 7th. Due to the lawsuit of third-placed Charles Brumskine of the Liberty Party , the election date had to be postponed. The Supreme Court dismissed the action.
The elections were conducted and monitored by the National Elections Commission .

Incumbent Ellen Johnson Sirleaf was not allowed to run again after two terms.
