Sainte-Foy-de-Longas is a French municipality with 237 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Dordogne in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine (before 2016: Aquitaine ). The municipality belongs to the Arrondissement of Bergerac and the Canton of Lalinde (until 2015: Canton of Sainte-Alvère ).

The name in the Occitan language is Senta Fe de Long Ga and is derived from the sacred Fides de Agen . The Occitan long ga denotes a long ford .

The inhabitants are called foyens .

Sainte-Foy-de-Longas is located about 22 km northeast of Bergerac in the Bergeracois area of the historic Périgord province .

Population development

After records began, the population rose to a peak of around 820 in the middle of the 19th century. In the period that followed, a phase of stagnation set in until the turn of the millennium, when the number of residents fell to a level of around 240 with short recovery phases let that is held until today.
