Razac-d'Eymet is a French municipality with 289 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Dordogne in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine (before 2016: Aquitaine ). The municipality belongs to the Arrondissement Bergerac and the canton Sud-Bergeracois (until 2015: canton Eymet ).
The name in the Occitan language is Rasac d'Aimet , which is derived from an estate that belonged to a "Rhetius" or "Radacus" in Gallo-Roman times . According to another theory, it comes from ratis ( German fern ), a reference to the local vegetation. The addition "d'Eymet" was added in the 19th century to differentiate itself from communities of the same name.
The inhabitants are called Razacois and Razacoises .

history
The ruins of a dolmen show an early settlement of the area. In 1270 Razac belonged to the castellany of Eymet . The name "Bastide", which belongs to a fallow land, suggests that a bastide was once built on this site .
In the 15th century, Eymet and Razac belonged to two different landlords , who, however, belonged to the same Pellegrue family. Apparently a division of the manor had previously been carried out, because it was the brothers Jean and Gracie-Arnaud. Razac remained in the hands of the Pellegrue family until the end of the 16th century, who handed Razac over to d'Ogier de Gasc, trésorier général de France for the Guyenne , in 1603 . The manor was raised in the middle of the 17th century in favor of Arnaud d'Ogier to the status of a baronate , which essentially comprised the area of the parish. After the death of Arnaud d'Ogier's son in 1699, the baronate fell to a woman, Bonaventure de Gasc, whom Razac married to Louis de Gombault. His family kept the baronate until the French Revolution .
