Saint-Gery is a French municipality with 236 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Dordogne in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine (before 2016: Aquitaine ). The municipality belongs to the Arrondissement Bergerac and the canton Pays de la Force (until 2015: canton La Force ).

The name in the Occitan language is Sent Geri and is derived from St. Aegidius .

The inhabitants are called Saint Gérois and Saint Géroises .

Saint-Géry is located about 20 km northwest of Bergerac in the Landais area of the historic province of Périgord .

Population development

After records began, the population rose to a peak of around 505 in the first half of the 19th century. In the following period, the size of the community fell to around 195 inhabitants with relatively short recovery phases until the turn of the millennium, before a phase of growth began that is still today persists.
