Château de Baneuil

Baneuil is a commune in the Dordogne department in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine in France. The 347 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) call themselves Baneuillais. The place name Baneuil is derived from Banolium and thus from the Latin balneolum (small bath).

geography

The Dordogne River flows through Baneuil. It is about two kilometers from the town of Lalinde and 16 kilometers from Bergerac on the right-hand slope of the Dordogne Valley.

Attractions

  • A Romanesque church from the 12th century.
  • The castle Château de Baneuil whose living area from the 15th and 16th centuries and comes between a rectangular Romanesque Donjon is from the 12th century and a round tower from the 14th century.
