Plaisance is a French municipality with 423 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Dordogne in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine (before 2016: Aquitaine ). The municipality belongs to the Arrondissement Bergerac and the canton Sud-Bergeracois (until 2015: canton Issigeac ).
The name in the Occitan language is Plasença and comes from the French "Plaisance", which in turn is a derivative of the French "plaisant" ( German pleasant ).
The inhabitants are called Plaisanciers and Plaisancières .
geography
Plaisance is located approx. 20 km south-southeast of Bergerac in the Bergeracois area of the historic Périgord province on the southern border with the neighboring Lot-et-Garonne department .

Plaisance lies in the catchment area of the Garonne River .
The Dropt , a tributary of the Garonne, forms the natural border with the neighboring municipalities of Cahuzac and Lalandusse in the neighboring Lot-et-Garonne department.
Tributaries of the Dropt cross the area of the municipality,
- the Mauroux which springs in Plaisance and
- the Banège with its tributaries,
- the Cendronne and
- the Courbarieux.
history
On January 1, 1973, the former parishes Falgueyrat , Mandacou and Eyrenville merged to form the newly created parish Plaisance, with the former parishes being given the status of a Commune associée . The main town of Plaisance was Eyrenville. In a referendum on January 17, 2010, the union was transformed into a simple merger of the three communes associées , in which the former municipalities were integrated into Plaisance.
Population development
After the establishment of the new municipality, the population initially fell to a low of around 390 in the early 1990s. In the following period, the size of the municipality rose to a high of around 470 inhabitants in the first decade of the 21st century, before another phase of the Stagnation began.

Economy and Infrastructure
The main focus of the municipality's agricultural activities is on grain beech, viticulture and cattle breeding.
Plaisance is located in the AOC des Bergerac zones with the Bergerac and Côtes de Bergerac appellations .
sport and freetime
- The GR 636 long-distance hiking trail from Monbazillac to Lacapelle-Biron (Lot-et-Garonne) passes the center of Plaisance.
- The GR 654 long-distance hiking trail from Namur in Belgium via Vézelay to Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port , together with the GR 636, passes the center of Plaisance. It follows the Via Lemovicensis, one of the four Camino de Santiago in France.
- The Boucle d'Issigeac circular route is 16.1 km long with a difference in altitude of 66 m. It runs from the center of Issigeac through the territory of the municipalities of Issigeac and Plaisance.

The Route nationale 21 forms the Bergerac – Agen traffic axis in this area and crosses Plaisance from north to south. The Route départementale 15, the area crosses the municipality from northwest to southeast and connects it to the west with the neighboring municipality of Saint-Capraise-d'Eymet, in the south of Cahuzac. Route départementale 25 crosses the area of the municipality from northeast to southwest and connects it in the northeast with the neighboring municipality and capital of the former canton of Issigeac, in the southwest with Eymet , the capital of today's canton.
Plaisance is linked to other communes in the department by a line on the Transpérigord bus network from Bergerac to Eymet.
