Mandacou is a former French commune with the last 196 inhabitants (1968) in the department of Dordogne in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine (before 2016: Aquitaine ).
On January 1, 1973, the former parishes Falgueyrat , Mandacou and Eyrenville merged to form the newly created parish Plaisance , with the former parishes being given the status of a Commune associée . The main town of Plaisance was Eyrenville. By resolution after the referendum on January 17, 2010, the merger was transformed into a simple merger of the three communes associées , in which the former municipalities were integrated into Plaisance.

Mandacou is located about 15 km south-southeast of Bergerac in the Bergeracois area of the historic province of Périgord .
history
The place, located on a limestone plateau, has a prehistoric site.
Toponymy
The name of the place could be based on the Indo-namic words manda ( German height, maximum limit ) and cou ( German rocky place ).

Population development
After the records began, the number of inhabitants rose to a high of around 475 by the first half of the 19th century. In the period that followed, the number of inhabitants fell to around 200 during short periods of recovery until the municipality was dissolved.

Attractions
Saint-Pierre-ès-Liens parish church
It was rebuilt in the 19th century in the style of eclecticism . The church has a bell- shaped gable and has preserved original walls and an entrance portal from the 14th century.
