Monfaucon ( Occitan : Mont Faucon ) is a French municipality with 294 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Dordogne in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . It belongs to Arrondissement Bergerac and is part of the Canton of Pays de la Force (2015: District of La Force ). The inhabitants are called Pierrotins .

geography

Monfaucon is located in the Périgord region on the Lidoire River , which also forms the northern municipal boundary. Monfaucon is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Géraud-de-Corps in the north, Fraisse in the east, Saint-Pierre-d'Eyraud in the southeast, Le Fleix in the south, Port-Sainte-Foy-et-Ponchapt in the southwest and Saint-Méard -de-Gurçon in the west.
