Saint-Georges-Blancaneix (locally and Saint-Georges-de-Blancaneix ) is a French municipality with 252 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Dordogne in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine (before 2016: Aquitaine ). The municipality belongs to the Arrondissement Bergerac and the canton Pays de la Force (until 2015: canton La Force ).

The name in the Occitan language is Sent Jòrge de Blancanés and is derived from St. George . The Occitan word blancanès means “land of the white soil”.

The inhabitants are called Blancanésiens .

Saint-Georges-Blancaneix is ​​located about 13 km northwest of Bergerac in its catchment area ( Aire urbaine ). The municipality is located in the Landais area of the historic Périgord province .

Population development
