Lunas is a French municipality with 386 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Dordogne in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine (before 2016: Aquitaine ). The municipality belongs to the Arrondissement Bergerac and the canton Pays de la Force (until 2015: canton La Force ).

The name in the Occitan language is Lunàs , which could go back to a person named Lunus in Gallo-Roman times or is a derivative of the Old Occitan word launs ( German  wetland, wetland ).

The inhabitants are called Lunasiens and Lunasiennes .

Lunas is about 10 km northwest of Bergerac and thus in its catchment area ( Aire urbaine ). The municipality is located in the Landais area of the historic Périgord province .
