Saint-Léon-d'Issigeac is a French municipality with 126 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Dordogne in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine (before 2016: Aquitaine ). The municipality belongs to the Arrondissement Bergerac and the canton Sud-Bergeracois (until 2015: canton Issigeac ).

The name in the Occitan language is Sent Lèon de Sijac and is derived from Saint Leo. The addition is used to distinguish the municipality of the same name in Périgord .

The inhabitants are called Saint Léonnais and Saint Léonnaises .

Saint-Léon-d'Issigeac is located approx. 22 km southeast of Bergerac in the Bergeracois area of the historic province of Périgord on the southern edge of the department.

Population development

After records began, the number of inhabitants rose to a high of 430 in the first half of the 19th century. In the period that followed, a phase of stagnation set in until the 1980s, which caused the number of inhabitants to drop to 105 inhabitants with short recovery phases. before it stabilized at a level of around 120 inhabitants, which is still held today.
