The Monbazillac Castle |
Monbazillac is a French commune in the department of Dordogne in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . The municipality with 829 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) is located in the canton of Sud-Bergeracois , about ten kilometers south of Bergerac . The inhabitants of the municipality are called Monbazillacois / Monbazillacoises .
Viticulture is an important source of income in Monbazillac. The Monbazillac wine-growing region primarily produces white wines and since May 15, 1936 has been allowed to use the Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée .
The balloon pioneer Joseph Crocé-Spinelli was born in Monbazillac in 1845 .

Attractions
This Monbazillac Castle was in the second half of the 16th century in the style of Renaissance built and was added to the list on February 20, 1941 Monument historique added. The rectangular floor plan has round towers at the corners and is surrounded by a dry moat.
The Manoir de Fonvieille is also listed by the Ministry of Culture .
