Precipitate

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Precipuum ( Latin: praecipuum ; preference , pre-purchase ) is a part or object that has to be removed in advance when dividing. The term is used in Swiss tax law and describes and regulates the intercantonal reallocation of net profits.

Terms

The precipitate describes a share in the net profit of a company that is shifted from one part of the company to another for tax reasons. The cantonal tax system is affected, as the redistribution of profits means that cantonal taxes are recalculated. The precipitate serves " to create a balance where special conditions do not come into their own in the proper elimination ".
