Adya

Adya is a classic pop crossover project founded in 2006 by the Belgian musicians Adriaan van Landschoot and Phil Sterman and the conductor Edwig Abrath.

Career

The first two albums, Classic I and Classic II , reached number 1 in the Flemish album charts in 2006 and 2007. In 2011 there was a joint venture between the Adya label Mouse and the German label Starwatch Music , which released the sampler Adya Classic - The Greatest Melodies of All Time in July 2011 in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. In August 2011 the album reached number 1 on the Swiss album charts and number 5 on the German album charts. Adya combines well-known classical melodies, including those by Ludwig van Beethoven , Johann Sebastian Bach and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, with a modern pop beat.

Adrian van Landschoot previously produced the contributions of the Belgian participants Dream Express (“A Million in 1, 2, 3”, 1977) and Stella (“Si tu aimes ma musique”, 1982) at the Eurovision Song Contest . In 2001 he founded his first classical music project with the Adrivalan Orchestra. Edwig Abrath was, among other things, conductor with the Royal Flanders Philharmonic, Il Novecento and the Emanon Ensemble . In March 2012, Adya were nominated for the ECHO in the Newcomer International and Crossover categories. In March 2013, another Echo nomination took place in the crossover category .
