The Reintal branch church in the Winklern community is consecrated to St. Rupert of Salzburg and belongs to the Roman Catholic parish of Winklern .

Building description

The church is a small Gothic building with a nave and a slightly lower choir from the beginning of the 16th century. A hexagonal ridge turret with an onion helmet and two bells rises above the nave with a gable roof . One bell was cast by Johann Baptist Dival in 1723, and another by Ferdinand Drackh in 1731. Triangular buttresses support the choir with a five-eighth end . The sacristy is built into the southern corner of the choir .

A star-net ribbed vault arches on pillars with semicircular templates above the two-bay nave . In the west there is a wooden music gallery with a central support. A pointed, chamfered triumphal arch connects the nave with the single-yoke, star-rib vaulted choir. The keystones in the choir are painted with a head of Christ, the half-length of St. Laurentius , the coat of arms of the County of Gorizia and a Tyrolean eagle . The paintings in the quatrefoil fields depict the saints Nikolaus and Rupert. The fresco of Our Lady with Child on the choir wall was created in 1681.
