The station designed by Henri Brillon was built in the form of a tunnel station , with a longer section in the open structure in the middle. In this area, the all-round glazed entrance pavilion lets daylight shine down onto the distribution level and the platforms. Concrete elements are attached to the walls, which are painted in the colors of the rainbow, giving the station a modern and practical impression. Metal light fittings hang from the ceiling, which, like the skylights above, are painted red and orange.

The platform level with two side platforms is at a depth of 12.2 meters . The distances to the neighboring stations, measured from station end to station start, are 1003.95 meters to Frontenac and 383.43 meters to Joliette . There are connections to two bus lines and a night bus line of the Société de transport de Montréal .

history

The station was opened on June 6, 1976, together with the Frontenac – Honoré-Beaugrand section of the green line. Name giver is the Rue Préfontaine; this is named after the politician Raymond Préfontaine (1850-1905), mayor of the formerly independent city of Hochelaga and from 1898 to 1902 also mayor of Montreal. During the planning phase, the station name Moreau was planned, named after a street running parallel to Rue Préfontaine.
